From small beginnings
to a grandiose event

It all started in 1995, when Toronto and Kyiv became sister cities. This event marked the beginning of the largest Ukrainian festival in North America. Back then, the first festival was a small gathering with a small number of attendees. But over the years, it has grown into a massive celebration of Ukrainian culture.

Toronto's Ukrainian
Fest grows

From 2000 to 2015, the festival experienced growth, attracting the attention of media and guests from across Canada and the world. It became a recognized cultural event in Toronto, gaining widespread acclaim. This is all thanks to the support of like-minded people who are dedicated to preserving Ukrainian heritage in North America.

Keeping traditions alive online

The year 2020 was a unique one for the Bloor West Village Ukrainian Festival, as it transitioned to an online format due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The festival organizers made every effort to preserve the atmosphere and spirit of the event, and the virtual celebration brought together Ukrainians and Canadians from all over, allowing them to feel a sense of unity and pride in their rich culture and traditions.

Toronto stands with Ukraine

The 26th Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival became the largest in its history, attracting over 900,000 visitors.

The highlight of the festival was the powerful demonstration of unity with the Ukrainian people – the Solidarity March. It served as a symbol of unity and gratitude to all who support and defend Ukraine.
