Children Choir Zhayvir was established by the Ukrainian Youth Association - Toronto Branch in 2006 with initiative by Olesya Konyk (Musical Director). Olesya Konyk teaches children not only to sing, but to sing with professionalism. Also, over the years, Oksana Skira has remained the pianist. The choir is very active in the Ukrainian community with events such as Anniversary of Ukrainian Insurgent Army, Shevchenko, Christmas concerts, charity concerts, "Children from Canada – for Children of Ukraine”, concerts at the Ivan Franko Senior Residence, various music festivals and the New Year’s Masquerade. Children who are part of the choir also learn how to cherish the Ukrainian language, traditions, culture and Ukraine’s history.
