Za Okeanom is a Ukrainian band from Saskatoon created in 2023. The name means “Across the Ocean”, since all their 6 band members were born in Ukraine and immigrated to Canada at various stages of their lives. They represent cities from various parts of Ukraine - Lviv, Odesa, Ivano Frankivsk, Ternopil and Enerhodar (Zaporizhzhia Oblast) - and varied styles of music, such as classical, contemporary, jazz, funk, rock, pop, traditional and even latin. All the musicians have had experiences with a number of bands both in Ukraine and in Canada. Band members include Volodymyr Cheremshynskyy – lead vocals and guitar; Victoria Cheremshynska – alto saxophone; Olena Synychych – bayan; Mykola Karnaukh – drum and backing vocals; Kosta Tarnarutskyi – bass guitar; Rostyk Hursky – tenor saxophone and backing vocals.
