Toronto’s StarDust Jazz Trio consists of Zhanna Zinchenko (vocals), Victor Kowalenko (piano) and Stephan Lang (Koshyts) on bass. Zhanna is a distinguished choral conductor and vocal coach. An incredibly versatile singer, she is equally at home with classical, church, and traditional Ukrainian music, and her true love, jazz. Victor has been active in the Toronto jazz scene for decades. A retired high school teacher, he now devotes himself full-time to church choir conducting and the StarDust Jazz Trio. Stephan is a classically trained former Los Angeles rock musician and recording engineer. After years as a top international translator, he has returned to his original passion: music. As the StarDust Jazz Trio, they perform both traditional jazz standards and their own distinctive jazz-tinged arrangements of Ukrainian pop and folk favourites, creating a totally unique niche genre of world music fusion.
