The St. Demetrius Bandura Ensemble and Bandura School are based at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Demetrius in Etobicoke, Ontario. The Bandura School was founded in 1983, and is beginning its 40th year of providing weekly instruction on bandura technique, theory, style and performance, to students of all ages. The St. Demetrius Bandura Ensemble performs regularly at local concerts and functions in the Toronto area, and is pleased to return to the Toronto Ukrainian Festival for a 7th year! The ensemble takes pride in demonstrating the versatility of the bandura, performing pieces from a variety of genres including traditional Ukrainian, liturgical, classical, and popular music. Performing this year are students of the St. Demetrius Bandura school, as well as alumni and friends of the ensemble.
