Sing with Ukraine is a group initiatve, born days after russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24th, 2022. What began as a gathering of friends, processing grief through song, has morphed into musical activism and resistance effort through Toronto’s musical landscape. Its mission is to popularize ancient and powerful Ukrainian polyphonic singing heritage, to shake up the wider community in Toronto’s cultural spaces from indifference, to raise awareness about a culture and a people under threat, and to generate action by raising funds to support numerous Ukrainian humanitarian causes. Sing with Ukraine has performed at over 100 fundraising events since the full-scale war began and will continue its relentless journey through Ukraine’s ancestral sound toward victory, peace, and freedom.
