StarDust Jazz Trio are three Toronto musicians who have created an exciting new niche in world music fusion — Ukrainian jazz! — by taking well-known traditional Ukrainian folk and pop favourites and totally re-imagining them in fresh and unique jazz-infused arrangements, with echoes of everything from samba to swing, bossa nova to blues. Featuring Zhanna Zinchenko on vocals, Victor Kowalenko on piano,
and Stephan Lang (Koshyts) on string bass, their dynamic onstage energy is infectious, their appeal transcends cultural boundaries. Rounding out their sound, they are joined by multi-instrumentalist Volodymyr Mamalyga and drummer Oleksandr Levkovich. As an added surprise, StarDust Jazz Trio will be introducing two talented young Ukrainian-Canadian guest performers at their East Stage showcase.
