About artist

Larissa Samborsky is a proud Ukrainian Canadian, born and raised in Toronto, with a deep love for her Ukrainian culture, faith, and community. She has been involved with the Yavir School of Ukrainian Dance as both a dancer and instructor and is an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic community through Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church and St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church. She serves on the Pastoral Council, is an Epistle Reader, and is an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada (UCWLC). Over the years, Larissa has also been involved in Ukrainian Catholic youth ministry and various parish and community initiatives.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Larissa co-created and co-hosted Tranquillight Calling, an online Byzantine Catholic ministry offering faith-based content for both adults and children. Its programming included The Conversation, a weekly discussion with Bishop Bryan Bayda on contemporary issues in the Church, and Spark of Faith, a children’s program featuring Scripture, stories, songs, and faith-filled fun. Professionally, Larissa has dedicated nearly 20 years to working with children, youth, and families at Stonegate Community Health Centre. She is honoured and excited to be an MC at the 30th Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival and to celebrate Toronto’s vibrant Ukrainian community.
