About artist
My name is Maya Potichnyj, and I am a third-year student at Toronto Metropolitan University studying Criminology with a minor in Law. Outside of school, I enjoy travelling, staying active, and spending time with family and friends.
I have been actively involved in the Ukrainian-Canadian community for many years through volunteering, Ukrainian dance, and cultural events. As a longtime member of the Yavir School of Ukrainian Dance, I have performed at numerous Ukrainian celebrations and cultural events, helping celebrate and preserve our culture and traditions.
I have also volunteered at events such as the Tryzub Awards Gala and, in 2026, had the honour of co-MCing the Matura Gala. These experiences have strengthened my connection to my Ukrainian heritage and my passion for bringing people together.
I am proud to continue contributing to the Ukrainian community and I am honoured to be part of the 30th anniversary of the Ukrainian Bloor Festival.
