About artist
Anna Savytska is a Ukrainian violinist, laureate of numerous international competitions, and concert artist based in Switzerland. Born in Lviv, she began playing violin at age eight at the Solomiya Krushelnytska Specialized Music Boarding School under Oksana Tsap and made her major stage debut at eleven.
In 1995, Anna entered the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, studying with Professor Dora Schwarzberg and later completing postgraduate studies there. In 2004, she earned a Master of Arts in String Instruments from the Mykola Lysenko Lviv National Music Academy under Professor Volodymyr Zaranskyi.
Her artistic development included masterclasses with leading musicians including Zakhar Bron, Vladimir Spivakov, Igor Oistrakh, Pierre Amoyal, Ana Chumachenco, Menahem Pressler, Ivry Gitlis, Rudolf Koelman, and others. She received scholarships from the Herbert von Karajan Foundation and Yamaha Corporation of Japan. In 2003, the Vladimir Spivakov International Foundation awarded her an eighteenth century Antonio Gragnani violin.
Between 1990 and 2010, Anna became a laureate of 17 international violin competitions across Europe and Japan, earning 11 first prizes and numerous special distinctions. Among her major achievements are first prizes at the Lorenzo Perosi Competition in Italy, Václav Huml International Violin Competition in Croatia, and Pablo Sarasate International Violin Competition in Spain, where she also received the Audience Prize. She has also been recognized at the Kocian, Béla Bartók, Joseph Szigeti, Yehudi Menuhin, Viotti Valsessia, and other international competitions.
Anna has performed in major concert halls including the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, as well as venues in Cologne, Bonn, Warsaw, and Madrid. She has appeared at more than 200 international festivals and performed under more than twenty renowned conductors, including Saulius Sondeckis, Volodymyr Sirenko, Roman Kofman, Mykola Diadiura, Myroslav Skoryk, Vasily Petrenko, and Uroš Lajovic.
Her repertoire includes works by more than 300 composers, ranging from Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Sibelius, and Saint Saëns to Bartók, Stravinsky, Szymanowski, Lutosławski, Pärt, and Górecki. Contemporary music is an important part of her artistic work. She has premiered numerous compositions and collaborated with contemporary composers for more than fifteen years, many of whom have dedicated works to her and the Innovation Duo, her internationally active violin duo.
Anna has served as a jury member for international competitions including the Pablo Sarasate Competition in Spain, Prima la Musica and the Bohuslav Martinů Competition in Austria, and ProArt and Made in Ukraine.
Since 2008, she has been cofounder of the Dzialak & Söhne Music Academy and founder and director of the IMA Virtuosos Summer Academy. From 2015 to 2021, she worked with the International Summer Academy ISA in Semmering, organized by the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and has participated in numerous international masterclass projects.
Anna speaks Ukrainian, German, English, Serbian, Croatian, and Polish. Since 2008, she has lived in Switzerland with her husband, violinist and conductor Jakub Dzialak, and their two sons, Vladislav and Marc.
